She banked down on her power and the fire diminished from her eyes. With a weary sigh, she gazed into the eyes of the Phoenix. "She doesn't know that you are a part of her. She isn't in control. She has no control." Esmeralda should have been taught at the proper age so the two could be one.
"I can help the both of you. It won't be easy and it will take a great deal of patience, but I can make you whole." Arie was prepared for it. She could do this. "The woman has a strong mind and heart. She's quick to learn. It may take her awhile to believe that she's the reincarnate."
With another sigh, she said "She won't remember this when your hold loosens. I promise to take care of you both." Arie bowed at the waist and lowered her head in respect to the one she obeyed.

She may very well accept the help it required but one thing troubled it. "I will accept this offer. Though I tell you this Arie, find the ones who interfere with us before it is too late. This body is young and strong but even as I am now, I cannot do anything as yet." She wanted to know who or what was responsible for their being split.
Releasing its hold and fading back into the gypsy's subconcious, Esmeralda looked around and found Arie still there. "Well? What is it?" she asked somewhat annoyed finding the other woman kept staring.
Even as they stood there, none would know it was already too late and only going to get worse.

Standing straight once more, she said "I promise you I will not rest until they are taken care of." She would talk to Zendania and her friend. Then she'd find those who were hunting the Phoenix and take care of them as well. She had a job ahead of her. She'd be in Port Royal for awhile.
At Esmeralda's question, she sighed. It must begin now. "I have my work cut out for me." She removed her cloak and laid it neatly on the back of a chair. "Now, I just talked to the Phoenix. Which you are as well. You don't remember the conversation because you are not one yet. Something is keeping the two of you apart. Part of it is your ignorance. I can fix that, but you have to believe and willing."

Esmeralda crossed her arms. There was perhaps some truth to it, it may explain her behavior, her nightmares, and black-outs. "Fine, I'll play nice. Just answer this question. What does James have to do with any of this? Why would he send for you and not tell me? What could he possibly know?" She wanted to find out what he was doing and, if what Arie said was true, what had she done that she was unaware of but that James had witnessed?

Tugging slightly at her hair, she said "I am not here to be your enemy. I am here to keep you alive." Perhaps she was on the defensive about James? "He did tell you about me. He told you that he sent for a wisewoman. I'm the wisewoman. He sent for me because he knew I could help you. He told me about your dreams, blackouts and other incidences."
She settled slightly and folded her hands in front of her. "He's seen enough to know that I can help. I'm here to protect him too, but not from you." She'd inform Esmeralda later that she could not hurt those she loved. She had to find a way to make her stop being so defensive around her.

She still didn't like any of this. Why did everyone seem to know more about her than herself?? Esmeralda ought to know who she is! Protect him but not from her? Now this just made her wonder more of what on earth she's been doing lately. Even though Esmeralda was skeptical about this whole thing, she'd go along with it anyway. "So what is it I have to do then?"

Arie placed her hands behind her back and watched the internal debate that Esmeralda had with herself. Poor woman, she was so confused. Didn't know what to believe, who to trust. Zendania would be responsible for the majority of it. She'd make sure the woman understood her displeasure. She'd been chosen to raise the Phoenix and later start her training. She'd done poorly.
At the question, she tilted her head. "First, you've got to become one. You have to understand your powers and lean some of the ones you don't have because they were not taught to you."

Taught to her? Wonderful. So someone was meant to teach her about this? Who else knows about what she supposedly is?! What is it? Is it put out in the papers that's she's not really human? Does everyone whisper about it behind her back? Esmeralda still desperately hoped this was some sort of prank. This kind of knowledge all at once was rather difficult to grasp. How could anyone expect her to take this easily? Sure she'd go along but only with the ever deflating possibility that whatever this was, wasn't what it appeared to be.
"And how would this go about happening?" she asked next.

With a tilt of her head, Arie said "I can understand that this may be hard to believe, but I gain nothing by lying to you. Why would sail halfway across the ocean to lie to you? Ask yourself that while you're asking yourself all those questions. The whole world doesn't know. Only those in my employ know and they are here to protect you." What was she to do if Esmeralda decided not to believe? The Phoenix would die.
She gave a sigh. "I will teach you what you don't know and help you hone what skills you do."
